Billy Fury's career is not currently as appreciated in modern times as it should be;  there is a huge revival in interest (as there should be) for The Beatles but unless you're a Fury-fan few know of his incredible career throughout the 1950's and '60's as the precursor to The Beatles.  This was to such levels that at an audition John Lennon sought out Fury for his autograph.  Almost the 'English Elvis' with his styled hair and hip-swivels, he was an amazing presence in music and even became involved in films of a parallel type to those Elvis starred in.

'We Want Billy' is a reissue of his classic and very rare live album with The Tornados and contains classic tracks such as 'Half Way to Paradise' and the R&B song 'Unchain My Heart'.  The original was one of the first Live-performance recordings and as the cover states 'you can hear the tremendous reception he [Fury] received and follow him through the programme of ballads and songs ...'.  So, with this album you have the opportunity to actually 'be there' for a 1963 concert. Sadly, Fury's life continued to mirror Presley's and in 1972 he had to break from his career due to illness to undertake heart surgery following a weakness likely caused by rheumatic fever in childhood.  An attempted come back in 1983 with the rare album 'The One and Only' was not to be, and the album was released posthumously after his death in January 1983.  He died at the sadly young age of 42 ...bizarrely, exactly the same as age Elvis was when he died.
