Released in 1979, this was the Bee Gees first album together following the major hit of Saturday Night Fever. Credited as having been very much a Barry Gibb album, it contains tracks well known/covered by modern artists such as Tragedy. The inner photo-sleeve shows images of the Brothers Gibb overlaid with photos of their musicians Blue Weaver, Dennis Bryon, and Alan Kendall. Having begun to be classed as a disco/dance band, Spirits Having Flown deliberately also paid homage to the Bee Gees ballad roots with songs like Too Much Heaven and Stop (Think Again). The title track - Spirits Having Flown - is also an incredible song.
Fame had very much hit the Bee Gees now in the wake of Saturday Night Fever, and the Spirits Having Flown tour was very much out there with a jet painted in the SHF logos/colours. The Brother's once described the unbelievable place they'd reached to look out with disbelief and see their faces on the tail of a jet!
